Old School Coffee
Where ethical sourcing meets fast + friendly Service
We believe coffee is more than just a beverage, it’s an experience. One that needs to be celebrated and shared. Our customers deserve a quality cup of coffee from a verified source, and they should be able to get one without being late to work. We strive to provide the highest quality cup of coffee with the best customer experience possible.
Old School Coffee is located in the historic Dudley Square building in Lexington, KY. This building certainly has a lot of history, this structure was originally constructed in 1881 where it served as Public School #3. It operated as a school from 1881-1925. The building still has its “old school” charm with plenty of new age designs. We love natural light, exposed brick, and of course great coffee.

We proudly source all our coffee and espresso from Seven Hills Coffee Roasters in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joe and Andy founded Seven Hills in 1986, and ever since they have been striving to source the right beans and roast them to perfection. Not only do they have over 30 years of experience, they also use the best roasting method. Most coffee roasting companies use a drum roaster which can produce higher yields, but can leave a burnt, bitter taste behind, damaging the natural flavor complexity of the bean. Seven Hills uses a Sivetz fluid bed roaster which pushes hot air onto the beans from underneath causing the beans to levitate and evenly rotate on all sides for an unmatched, clean aromatic roast. They use 3 fluid bed roasters to keep up with demand. It is a time-consuming process, but well worth the quality product.
We believe in supporting other exceptional local businesses in every way possible. We strive to focus on our strengths in coffee and customer service, while allowing other businesses to compliment ours by doing what they do best. It fills us with joy to be able to bring all these local businesses together under a common goal of providing a great experience for our customers and community.
La Petite Délicat
We locally source our croissant and macarons from La Petite Délicat. La Petite has been a local tradition since 2013 crafting the area’s best French macarons and croissants. We proudly serve their flaky chocolate, ham & swiss and spinach & feta croissants. A delicious handcrafted macaron is also a perfect compliment to an afternoon cup of coffee. We offer a rotating selection of their unique varieties. Some of our favorites are the Strawberry Buttercream and Cookies & Cream.
Spalding’s Bakery
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can find the infamous Spalding’s doughnuts at Old School Coffee. Spalding’s has been family-owned and operated since 1929. Not a lot has changed since the beginning, they still follow the same traditions of only accepting cash and using their secret family recipe. On baking days you can find them on Winchester road with a line out the door.
